Make Baskets: May 16, 2026

Hours: 10-5pm

Location: This workshop will be held at a private residence/studio in the Mira Monte neighborhood of the Ojai Valley. Exact location will be revealed once purchased. 

Description: This is a one-day beginning basket workshop where we will make a fairly traditional foraging or “egg basket” with a handle. This process aligns perfectly with a meditative, ecological way of life using plant fibers practiced by our ancestors.  It is also a wonderful way to connect to our land and community as we think/feel with our hands.

What to Bring:

• Small flat head screw driver
• Garden shears
  
• Cloths pins
• Old towel
  
• Lunch

Provided:

• All other basket making materials.

Carol Shaw Sutton has made baskets since she was a child. She taught fiber in the School of Art at California State University Long Beach for 34 years and has exhibited her fiber sculpture in museum and galleries worldwide.
