Description:
Freaking out about getting older?
Join us for a creative workshop and explore ways to find fun and ease as you re-imagine the next phase of you. We’ll use art, writing, and hands-on exercises to help re-frame midlife as a time of opportunity and possibility. You’ll leave with new perspectives, mixed-media artwork, a personal journal, and tools to help navigate your way through the second half of life. We’ll end with a cocktail hour and light bites.
What to Bring:
- An open mind/heart
- 3 printed photos of yourself (as a child, adolescent and younger adult)
- Comfortable clothes appropriate for art projects
About the Instructors:
Christopher Noxon and Rebecca Odes are authors and artists whose midlife reinvention led them to Ojai five years ago. Odes’ books explore life stages and transitions, and include the irreverent life guide DEAL WITH IT!, THE LOOKS BOOK, which explores women’s relationship to beauty, and a guide to finding a life path, WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? As a journalist, Noxon’s work appeared in the New York Times and the Atlantic; books include REJUVENILE, a look at the redefinition of contemporary adulthood, and GOOD TROUBLE: LESSONS FROM THE CIVIL RIGHTS PLAYBOOK. The exercises in this workshop are drawn from Odes/Noxon’s collaborative project about the power and potential of midlife.
